What is Long Covid?

Long covid is the term we use to describe the symptoms that stay with some individuals after COVID-19 has left their system. The chances of retaining these symptoms for longer than the average person does not seem to have a clear link between how ill you were during your illness or how you got coronavirus in the first place.

Some of the main symptoms of long covid seem range from fatigue and shortness of breath to heart palpitations and dizziness. Some people report that they have felt sick and had diarrhea, along with stomach aches and a loss of appetite. Additionally, long covid may give you difficulty sleeping and trouble concentrating properly.

People with long covid have also reported that their taste and smell has not completely returned to normal, even after a year of having the illness. If you think that you may be experiencing long covid symptoms, please contact your doctor.

Long Covid Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below answers to frequently asked questions we get from our clients regarding Long Covid:

How long do covid symptoms usually last?

Covid symptoms usually only last for a few days to a couple weeks. For some people it may take up to 12 weeks to full recover. If you experience covid symptoms for longer than this, such as fatigue and shortness of breath, you may have long covid.

Can you catch covid more than once?

Yes. It is possible to catch coronavirus more than once. When you beat covid-19, your body produces anti-bodies that stick around and help to stop you catching the disease again. However, it is not clear how long your immune response may last, and it can vary between people. Additionally, exposure to the virus and its other strains could still give you an infection.

Which organ is mostly affected by covid-19?

The main organ in the body the covid-19 affects is the lungs.

Can the coronavirus survive on surfaces?

It is not known exactly how long covid-19 can last on a surface; however, we do understand that it seems to act similarly to other coronaviruses. This length of time tends to range from 2 hours to 9 days depending on the type of surface and the temperature of the surface.
