Depression
Depression is normally categorised as having less or no interest is normal activities that you may usually enjoy, feeling sad, low or hopeless and an array of other symptoms. If these symptoms last for over 2 weeks, this could be a sign of depression.
Dysthymia
This condition usually presents itself in chronic depression and an irritable mood that may last for at least 2 years.
Bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder is a condition in which an individual experiences depression alongside periods of elevated mood and mania. A person with bipolar may present extreme mood swings.
Mood disorder related to a certain health condition
This form of mood disorder is based around another condition that triggers symptoms of depression. These illnesses could be cancer, injuries, infections or other types of illness.
Substance-induced mood disorder
This type of mood disorder is brought on through either medicine, drug abuse, exposure to toxins, alcoholism and other forms of treatment.
